The 2nd Annual Stolen Sisters Awareness Walk
Saturday, May 10, 2008
Edmonton, Alberta
Opening Ceremonies @ 11:00 A.M.
We will commence the Stolen Sisters
Awareness Walk @ 12:00 pm
(Canadian Native Friendship Centre 11205 -
101 street)
The Stolen Sisters Awareness Walk (formerly
known as the Stolen Sisters Awareness March) is open to the general public.
Please dress casual and wear comfortable shoes. You may want to bring water.
Lunch will be provided.
The SSAW was created to raise awareness to
the disproportionate number of missing and murdered Metis, Inuit, and First
Nations women. Aboriginal women account for less than 3% of the Canadian
population. Alarmingly, in the last 20 years over 500 of our women have
vanished or have been murdered!!!

April-Eve wrote this week (Jan 25
08), and said, "Malcolm, please remember that this year we are calling it
a 'walk' vs 'march,'" so the event will be called, the 'Stolen Sisters Awareness Walk.' She added,
"We will be encouraging all communities across Canada to do a SSAW for our missing and murdered sisters
on May 10th as well. Thanks again, my friend!"
